Ron Arad is one of the most influential and successful designers of the contemporary industry. His work is often multidisciplinary: he combines architecture, art, design and engineering technologies. He creates one-of-a-kind pieces and limited editions for galleries and collaborates with large furniture brands, such as Kartell, Vitra, Moroso, Fiam Italia, Driade, Alessi, Cassina. Arad is an active architect and interior designer, some of his projects are classified as public art. He holds the title of The Royal Designer for Industry (RDI) and has received multiple awards including London Design Medal (2011) and Compasso d’Oro (2016). Arad is Royal Academician of the Royal Academy of Arts. The designer graduated from the Architectural Association in London. In 1981 he co-founded with Caroline Thorman the design and production studio One Off and later, in 1989, Ron Arad Associates architecture and design practice. In 2008 Ron Arad Architects was established alongside Ron Arad Associates. Among his notable projects are the Design Museum Holon in Tel-Aviv and Nobu Shoreditch hotel in London. Several museums, such as the Design Museum Holon, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, MoMA in New York, Barbican in London, Pinacoteca Giovanni e Marella Agnelli in Turin, have held retrospective exhibitions dedicated to Ron Arad. His furniture is included in the collections of the Victoria and Albert museum in London, the Center Pompidou in Paris, Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein.
